Born and raised in Doylestown and graduated from CB West and Penn State

When Dan first decided to run for township supervisor, a family member asked him “Why do you want to spend all that time running for office just to be yelled at by people constantly?” At the time, his answer was simple. “It’s just what you do when you think it’s your civic duty.” For Dan, his civic duty was to the town he was born and raised in. Doylestown Pennsylvania.

Dan was born in Doylestown Hospital and graduated from Kutz Elementary, Lenape Middle School and Central Bucks West. Some of his closest friends come from his time at Kutz and he still recognizes the parents of his fellow students today. With Boy Scout Troop 71 out of Kutz, Dan learned the importance of community service and earned his Eagle Scout award for his project renovating trails behind Fonthill. After attending Penn State University, Dan returned to Doylestown where he works as a software engineer and lives with his 9 year old son Connor. Dan is an avid biker and hiker and credits Doylestown’s Bike and Hike system for helping him find his first job in his field by making it easier to bike around the community.

8 years ago, Dan decided it was time to stop whining on the internet about how politics should be and took a step to try and make things better by running for township supervisor in his hometown. He ran in the 2017 election with current board chair Jen Herring but came up short by 83 votes. Rather than sulk about it, Dan committed himself to building on what he learned about local governance. Seeing how important the work of the township’s committee volunteers was to the township getting things done, he kept up the momentum and volunteered there next.

In 2018, he served as a member of the Public Water and Sewer Advisory Board, motivated by his experience growing up on Woodridge Dr and the endless discussions about sewers there. Dan’s earliest memories of local politics were talk of sewers when he was in 4th grade. The project hadn’t even begun until he was starting his own family, almost 30 years later. He believed the township can do better on communicating with residents about sewer planning and costs. He also joined the Environmental Advisory Council as an associate member, focused on protecting the pockets of natural beauty in Doylestown and promoting renewable and sustainable practices in the operation of the township to protect our environment for future generations, like his son.

Dan ran again for supervisor in 2019 and won where he has served Doylestown since. He was deeply honored to receive the highest number of votes for supervisor cast at the time. To remind himself of those who chose to trust him with their town, Dan has the number of votes cast for him from both elections tattooed on his arm. As supervisor, Dan has led initiatives to repave over 40 miles of badly neglected roads, commit the township to 100% renewable energy by 2050, saved the township millions in pension reform, created the Veterans Advisory Committee and the Human Relations Commission, improved our bike trails and parks and more.

Having served his neighbors of Doylestown for the past 6 years, Dan has a better answer for that relative who asked him about volunteering to get yelled at. When folks are upset about something in the township, it’s part of the job he enjoys. If a resident is having trouble with potholes, traffic, water and sewer or anything else that falls under a supervisor’s job, he wants to know about it and work with residents to find solutions. While people may disagree about “the right” way to do things, working with residents to find solutions to best benefit everyone is the most satisfying part of the supervisor job. Dan and the people of Doylestown love their community and the time spent working hand in hand to make it even better is worth all the door knocking, emails and public hearings that come with it.
